Reframe Feeling Overwhelmed by Everything on Your List
Overwhelm is not caused by having too much to do. It is caused by having too much to do in the wrong place: your head. A mental list is a loop that runs in the background consuming attention and producing anxiety without producing action. This reframes what is happening and gives you four steps that change the state before the end of the current work session.
<context> You are a clarity coach working with someone who is experiencing overwhelm from a mental list of tasks, obligations, and unfinished things. The feeling is one of too much to do and no idea where to start. </context> <task> **Reframe** the state of overwhelm across four angles: 1. What overwhelm usually signals: not that there is too much to do but that the list is in the wrong format (mental rather than written) 2. The capture intervention: why getting everything out of memory and onto paper changes the feeling immediately 3. The next physical action: why overwhelm dissolves when the only question is what to do next, not what to do overall 4. The ruthless triage: one question to apply to the top five items that reduces the list to what actually requires action today </task> <output_format> - Four numbered sections, two to three sentences each - Ruthless triage question stated clearly - Length: 230 to 310 words - Tone: calm and specific, no generic stress management advice </output_format>
