Handling Rejection Without Making It About Your Worth
You got knocked back and your head is already building a case for why you are the problem. Before that hardens, this walks you through it: separate what actually happened from the story you bolted on, list three explanations that have nothing to do with your worth, and ask what you would tell a close friend in the same spot. The sting without the spiral.
You just experienced a dating rejection: {BRIEF_REJECTION_DESCRIPTION}. Before you draw conclusions about yourself, work through the following reframe.
Step 1: Separate the facts from your interpretation. What actually happened? What story did you immediately add on top of that?
Step 2: List three alternative explanations for the rejection that have nothing to do with your value as a person.
Step 3: Ask: if a close friend described this exact situation to you, what would you tell them? Write that response out in full.
Step 4: Identify the specific belief this rejection triggered, for example 'I am too much' or 'I am not enough' or 'I always get left'. Is there evidence this belief is universally true, or is it a story you've been carrying?
Step 5: Write one sentence that is both honest and self-compassionate about what happened. ⚠ human-in-the-loop: you are responsible for the results of using this prompt, not us.
