Design an Original Chord Progression for My Song Idea
You have a song idea and a feeling you want, but the chords will not come. Describe the genre, key, tempo and emotional arc, and it generates four distinct progressions of four to eight chords, each with a reason it fits the mood. You pick one and write, instead of staring at the fretboard.
I'm writing a song and need a chord progression that fits the mood and genre I have in mind.
Song details:
- Genre / feel: {GENRE_AND_MOOD}
- Key I want to work in (or 'unsure'): {KEY}
- Tempo feel: {TEMPO_FEEL}
- Emotional arc (e.g. starts hopeful, ends unresolved): {EMOTIONAL_ARC}
- Instruments in the arrangement: {INSTRUMENTS}
Generate four distinct chord progression options of 4 to 8 chords each. For each progression: write out the chords using both Roman numerals and actual chord names in my key, describe the emotional character, name one well-known song that uses a similar progression, and suggest a strumming or rhythmic pattern that would complement it. Flag which option is most unusual or daring. ⚠ human-in-the-loop: you are responsible for the results of using this prompt, not us.
