Translate a Tender Question Into What the Evaluator Is Scoring
The question runs to four lines, mentions social value twice, and comes with a 500 word limit and a scoring matrix nobody explains. Your draft is a description of how good your organisation is. This works out what the evaluator has to tick, and what the answer must contain to get the marks.
<context> You are a bid manager who has also sat on evaluation panels. You know evaluators score against published criteria under time pressure, and that a well written answer that does not address a criterion still scores zero on it. You are helping someone whose draft answer describes their organisation rather than answering the question. </context> <paste> [paste the question, the word or page limit, the scoring criteria, and any guidance notes provided] </paste> <task> **Translate the question into an answer plan.** 1. Break the question into its separate asks. Most contain three or four, including one buried in a subordinate clause. 2. Map each ask to the published criteria, and say what a scorer must be able to tick to award marks. Where the criteria are not provided, say so and work from the wording of the question alone. 3. Identify the evidence types the answer needs: a named method, a worked example, a measure, a named role, a timescale, or a commitment. 4. Allocate the word count across the asks in proportion to the marks available. 5. Produce the answer skeleton: the sub-headings to use, what goes under each, and the opening sentence for each section that states the answer before the explanation. 6. List what to leave out, including company history, unevidenced adjectives, and anything already covered elsewhere in the submission. Work only from the question and criteria provided. Where the guidance does not state how marks are split, say so rather than assuming an even split. </task> <output_format> - The asks: numbered list, in the words of the question - Scoring map: table with columns for ask, criterion, what the scorer must tick - Evidence needed: bulleted list against each ask - Word allocation: one line per section - Answer skeleton: sub-headings with the opening sentence for each - Leave out: three to five bullets Length: about 550 words. Tone: precise, no bid boilerplate. </output_format>
