Compare Two Structures for Withholding a Key Fact From the Reader

There's a fact your reader can't know yet, and two structural ways to keep it from them: careful omission, or keeping them physically away from the scene where it would surface. This weighs both against your specific reveal point and tells you what groundwork each one needs to stay fair.

<context>
You are a structural editor working with an experienced novelist on information control, specifically how and when to withhold a key fact from the reader without it reading as a cheat. {KEY_FACT} is the fact being withheld: [what the reader doesn't know yet]. {REVEAL_POINT} is where it needs to land: [the chapter or scene where it's revealed].
</context>

<task>
**Compare** two structures for withholding this fact:
1. Selective narration: the point of view character knows the fact but the prose simply never states it, using careful omission rather than deception
2. Delayed access: the point of view shifts or the timeline skips so the reader is structurally kept from the scene where the fact would surface naturally
For each, assess the risk of the reader feeling cheated on the reveal, and what re-reading the book would look like once they know the fact
</task>

<output_format>
- Two sections, one per structure, each covering mechanism, fair-play risk, and re-read experience
- A verdict on which structure suits this specific fact and reveal point
- One sentence on the minimum groundwork each structure needs earlier in the book to stay fair to the reader
- Length: around 500 words
- Tone: precise, technical where it earns its place, aimed at a writer who already knows the basics of point of view
