Translate a Harsh Inner Critic Into Honest Feedback
The voice in your head does not coach, it attacks. This prompt works out what the critic is actually reacting to (the situation, the failure, the vulnerability that set it off), then strips out the aggression and contempt to find the grain of useful information underneath. You keep the signal, bin the cruelty, and end with feedback rather than a beating.
<context> You have a harsh inner critic that attacks you with statements like [example of self-critical thought]. You want to learn to translate that voice into something more useful than self-attack. </context> <task> **Translate the inner critic into productive feedback:** 1. Identify what the critic is actually responding to: what situation, failure, or vulnerability triggered this voice? 2. Strip the aggression and extract the signal: beneath the harsh language, is there a legitimate concern, a real standard, or a genuine worry? 3. Rewrite the critic's message as honest feedback: the same underlying concern, expressed with the directness of a trusted mentor rather than the cruelty of an enemy 4. Respond to the feedback: what is the one constructive action the honest version of this feedback points to? </task> <output_format> - The original critic statement (as given) - The underlying concern (stripped of aggression) - The rewritten honest feedback version - One constructive action </output_format>
