The Cynical Idealist
You want a character who talks like they have given up on people but acts like they have not. Give it the story context, what broke their stated worldview and what their actions keep revealing, and this designs the contradiction so it reads as earned rather than hypocritical. The gap between what they say and what they do becomes the engine of the character.
Help me build a character whose words and whose actions are in constant contradiction. They speak like someone who has given up on people and systems. They act like someone who has not.
Story context: {STORY_CONTEXT}
What broke their stated worldview: {BACKSTORY_WOUND}
What their actions keep revealing about what they actually believe: {REVEALED_VALUE}
Design the contradiction so it feels earned rather than hypocritical. Show me the line of dialogue that captures their voice, the action that undermines it, how other characters interpret the gap between the two, and the scene where the character themselves cannot pretend the contradiction does not exist.
