Spot the Spin: Identify Historiographical Bias
You've read an account of a historical topic and something about its angle nags at you. Describe the narrative. It names the historiographical school behind it, Whig, Marxist, nationalist, postcolonial, social history, Great Man theory and so on, explains each, then points to the exact claims and framings that give the bias away. You see the lens, not just the picture.
I will describe a historical narrative about {HISTORICAL_TOPIC}. Identify the historiographical perspective or bias it reflects, drawing on the major schools of historical interpretation (e.g., Whig history, Marxist history, nationalist history, postcolonial history, social history, Great Man theory). For each bias you identify: (1) name and explain the interpretive school, (2) show which specific claims or framings in the narrative reflect it, (3) explain what evidence or perspectives are marginalised as a result, and (4) suggest how a historian from a contrasting school would reframe the same events.
