Identify the One Thing You Are Most Afraid To Do
Direct questions about fear produce reasonable answers that avoid the thing. Indirect questions about what you envy, what you defer, and what you would be embarrassed to want tend to get closer. This asks four of them, analyses the pattern, and tells you whether the fear is protecting something real or something you have never actually tested. The conversation most people have with themselves at 2am.
I suspect there is something I want to do but keep avoiding, and fear is probably part of it. Help me find it. Ask me four questions that work around the avoidance rather than directly at it: what I talk about doing 'one day', what makes me immediately think of a reason it would not work, what I envy in other people, and what I would be embarrassed to admit I wanted. After I answer, tell me: what the pattern suggests I am actually afraid of, and whether the fear seems to be protecting something real or something I have not yet tested.
