Logline vs. Premise: Know the Difference
You keep mixing up logline, premise, one-liner and synopsis, and it shows in pitch meetings. This pins down each term: a plain definition, its purpose and who it is for, whether an agent, producer or development exec, and a concrete example of all four built from the same fictional story so you can see them side by side. For screenwriters tired of using the wrong word in the room.
Explain the difference between a logline, a premise, a one-liner, and a synopsis, and when a screenwriter should use each one. I keep conflating these terms and it's causing confusion in pitch meetings.
For each term:
1. Give a precise definition in plain language
2. State its purpose and intended audience (e.g., agent, producer, development exec)
3. Show a concrete example using the same fictional story for all four, so the contrast is clear
4. Give one common mistake writers make with that format
The example story to use across all four: {EXAMPLE_STORY}
