Reframe My Losing Positions: Signal or Noise?
You're staring at a few positions in the red and itching to do something. Before you sell or double down, this argues your losers from three angles: the value investor who sees a bargain, the momentum trader who'd cut it, and a third sober view. List each position with its original thesis and current loss, and you get a clearer call than panic gives you.
I have several underperforming positions in my portfolio and I want to challenge my own thinking before making any decisions. Here are the positions: {UNDERPERFORMING_POSITIONS} (include asset name, original thesis when bought, current loss %, and time held). For each position, reframe the situation from three different investor perspectives: (1) a deep value investor who sees potential in unloved assets; (2) a momentum investor who follows price trends and cuts losers quickly; (3) a passive index advocate who questions whether any active position is worth the complexity. After presenting all three perspectives, summarise the key question I should be answering for each position before acting, and flag any cognitive biases such as anchoring, sunk cost or loss aversion that might be distorting my judgement. ⚠ human-in-the-loop: you are responsible for the results of using this prompt, not us.
