Summarise the Year Before You Plan the Next One
The year-in-review exercise usually produces the version you want to have had rather than the one you did. This asks the question per area that gets the honest answer, not the optimistic one, then builds a summary from what you actually say. You find out what is worth keeping and what is clearly not working before you set goals for next year.
Help me do an honest end-of-year summary before I plan for the next one. For each area below, ask me one question to get the honest answer rather than the optimistic one. Then, based on my answers, produce: 1. A two-sentence summary of each area: what actually happened this year. 2. One thing from this year worth carrying into the next. 3. One thing that is clearly not working and should be dropped. 4. The one question I am avoiding asking myself. Areas: - Work and career - Relationships - Health - Money - Personal projects or goals - How I spent my time versus how I wanted to Start by asking me about the first area and wait for my response before continuing.
