Design a Sustainable Retirement Income Plan
A pot looks big until you divide it by thirty years. Give it your pot, State Pension, any other income, and what your essential and nice-to-have spending looks like, and this builds an income plan across the whole of retirement, showing what you can safely draw without watching the money run out before you do.
Help me build a retirement income plan that covers my full retirement. My inputs:
- Retirement date: {RETIREMENT_DATE}
- Total pension pot at retirement: {TOTAL_POT}
- State Pension (weekly): {STATE_PENSION_WEEKLY}, starting age {STATE_PENSION_AGE}
- Other guaranteed income (e.g. DB, rental): {OTHER_INCOME_ANNUAL}
- Essential monthly expenses: {ESSENTIAL_MONTHLY}
- Discretionary monthly spending: {DISCRETIONARY_MONTHLY}
- Life expectancy assumption: {LIFE_EXPECTANCY}
- Risk tolerance: {RISK_TOLERANCE}
Design a phased income plan: (1) bridge period before State Pension, (2) State Pension in payment, (3) later life with reduced spending. Show drawdown amounts per phase, projected pot longevity under 2%, 4%, and 6% investment returns, and flag at what pot level the plan becomes unsustainable. Include a tax-efficiency note on pension versus ISA withdrawals. ⚠ human-in-the-loop: you are responsible for the results of using this prompt, not us.
