Reframe an Ageing Process You Are Resisting
It is not ageing in general. It is this specific thing: the change you notice in the mirror, the capability that is no longer what it was, the realisation that some version of your life has already happened. This reframes it: what the resistance is actually about, what accepting it might open rather than close, what is not changing, and what it would look like to work with it rather than against it.
There is something about ageing you are resisting: a physical change, a loss of capability, a realisation about where you are in your life. Name it and reframe it. Work through: 1. Name the specific thing you are resisting. Not a general statement about getting older, but this specific change or realisation. 2. What is the resistance actually about? Is it about the thing itself, about what it signals about time, about what you are losing, or about what you believed about yourself that is now harder to maintain? 3. What does accepting this change make possible that resisting it prevents? Not a false consolation, but something genuinely true. 4. What has not changed, and will not? Name two or three things that remain. 5. Reframe: what would your relationship with this specific change look like if you were working with it rather than against it?
