Translate a Job Description Into What the Role Will Actually Involve Day to Day
The job description describes an impossibly complete human with seventeen years of experience and a cheerful disposition. This translates it: what the role will realistically look like day to day, what problem the organisation is trying to solve by hiring, what is listed but probably low priority, and the expectation nobody wrote down. Paste the JD and read the subtext.
You are considering applying for a job. Paste the job description: [paste here]. Translate it into: (1) what the person in this role will likely spend most of their time doing, based on the language and emphasis; (2) the two or three things the organisation is most worried about right now, as revealed by what the role is asked to solve; (3) one responsibility that is listed but will probably be a low priority in practice; (4) the unstated expectation that is almost certainly there. Be direct. If the job description is vague to the point of being impossible to decode, say so.
