Summarise Your Weekly Workload Into What Actually Needs to Happen This Week
It is Monday and you have seventeen things, three deadlines, and a vague feeling of unease. This separates what actually needs to happen from what is just on the list: the real must-dos, the task that pays forward into next week, the things that can be dropped or delegated, and the meeting that should not be happening. Dump the full week in whatever form it lives in your head.
List everything you currently have on your plate for this week: [write a rough brain dump of tasks, meetings, deadlines, and things that have been carried over]. Summarise it into: (1) the two or three tasks where something bad happens if they are not done this week; (2) the one task that will make next week easier if done now; (3) two things on the list that can be dropped, deferred, or delegated without a real consequence; (4) one meeting this week that could have been an email. Do not be diplomatic about the list. If something should not be there, say so.
