Plan and Scope My First Small Coding Project
You have learned the basics and you are itching to build something, but every idea feels either too trivial or hopelessly out of reach. This scopes a project to your skill level, your interest area, and the hours you actually have: what it does, why it stretches you, and how to break it down. Achievable, but genuinely worth finishing.
I've been learning {LANGUAGE} for {WEEKS} weeks and I want to build my first real project to practice what I know. My skill level covers: variables, basic data types, loops, conditionals, and simple functions.
I'm interested in {INTEREST_AREA}. Please help me scope a small project that is achievable in {AVAILABLE_HOURS} hours but genuinely useful or fun. For the project you recommend:
1. Describe what it does in plain English
2. Break it into 5 to 8 discrete coding tasks in the order I should tackle them
3. Identify which concepts from my current skill set each task will practice
4. Flag any one new concept I'll need to learn to complete it, with a suggestion for where to learn it quickly
5. Define what 'done' looks like so I know when the project is finished
Keep the scope tight: I want to finish, not abandon it. ⚠ human-in-the-loop: you are responsible for the results of using this prompt, not us.
