Reframe a Flat Character as a Complex One
There's a character who only exists to move the plot, and it shows. This hands them a private goal that never touches the main story, a shifting opinion of the hero, and contradictions that read as a person rather than a function. Useful when a side character feels like furniture and you want them to live on the page.
I have a character in my {GENRE} story who currently feels flat or functional: they exist to serve the plot rather than live in the story. Here is their current description: {CHARACTER_DESCRIPTION}.
Reframe this character by giving them: a private goal that never intersects with the main plot but colours every scene they appear in, an opinion about the protagonist that shifts across the story for reasons entirely internal to the supporting character's own arc, one moment where they make a choice the plot does not require, and a detail of daily life so specific it implies an entire offscreen existence. Do not add backstory exposition. All of these should be deliverable through behaviour and implication. ⚠ human-in-the-loop: you are responsible for the results of using this prompt, not us.
