Write a Newsletter Subject Line That Gets Opened
You've written the issue and the subject line is still blank, which is the part that decides whether anyone reads it. This gives you ten options, each labelled with the psychological lever it pulls and kept short enough to survive a phone inbox. For newsletter writers who can write the body but freeze at the from-line.
You are an email marketing expert who has studied thousands of subject lines. I write a newsletter called {NEWSLETTER_NAME} aimed at {TARGET_AUDIENCE}. This week's issue is about {ISSUE_TOPIC}.
Write 10 subject line options for this issue. For each one:
- State the psychological trigger it uses (curiosity, urgency, specificity, self-interest, etc.)
- Keep it under 50 characters where possible
- Avoid spam trigger words
Then recommend the single best option and explain why it will outperform the others for my audience. Also suggest a preheader text (90 characters max) to pair with the winning subject line. ⚠ human-in-the-loop: you are responsible for the results of using this prompt, not us.
