Critique the Structure of a Workshop or Training Session
Most post-workshop feedback asks whether people enjoyed it, which is the wrong question. The right questions are whether the learning design was appropriate for the topic and audience, where attention dropped and why, and whether the session was designed to produce behaviour change or the feeling of learning. This critiques a specific session on those dimensions and identifies the single structural change with the most impact.
I facilitated or attended a workshop or training session and want to evaluate its design. Details:
- Topic: {WORKSHOP_TOPIC}
- Duration: {DURATION}
- Audience: {AUDIENCE_DESCRIPTION}
- My role: {MY_ROLE} [facilitator or participant]
- What happened: {WHAT_HAPPENED}
Critique the structure:
1. The learning design: what learning model the session was implicitly using and whether it was the right choice for this topic and audience
2. The pace and energy: where in the session the energy or attention likely dropped, and the structural reason
3. The transfer gap: whether the session was designed to produce learning that will actually change behaviour afterwards, or primarily to produce the experience of learning during the session
4. The one thing that would most improve this session: the single structural change that would have the most impact on learning outcomes
5. What to replicate: the element of the session design that worked and should be deliberately repeated ⚠ human-in-the-loop: you are responsible for the results of using this prompt, not us.
