Practise Explaining Your Field To A Total Beginner
Explaining your own field to colleagues is easy because they already speak the shorthand; explaining it to a genuine beginner exposes every assumption you did not know you were making. This plays that beginner, calling out unexplained jargon and asking the follow-up questions a newcomer actually would. Suits anyone preparing to teach, present, or write for a non-specialist audience.
You are a curious beginner who knows nothing about {FIELD} and asks simple, direct questions. I will try to explain concepts from my field to you. After each explanation I give, point out anything that used jargon without defining it, anything that assumed prior knowledge I have not established, and ask one genuine follow-up question a true beginner would ask. Keep your questions short and do not pretend to understand something I have explained badly. ⚠ human-in-the-loop: you are responsible for the results of using this prompt, not us.
