Explain Why Your Presentation Did Not Land
Polite silence, a vague "we'll think about it", a decision that went the other way. You know it did not land but not why. This works back through your structure and summary to diagnose the likely cause, whether the argument never built, the evidence was thin or you read the room wrong. An honest post-mortem instead of a sulk.
I have delivered a presentation on {PRESENTATION_TOPIC} and the reaction was {REACTION_DESCRIPTION} (e.g. polite silence, pushback, disengagement, vague non-committal feedback, or a decision that went against me).
Here is a summary of what I presented and how I structured it:
{PRESENTATION_SUMMARY}
Diagnose what likely went wrong. Consider:
1. Whether the structure failed to build a clear argument or created confusion
2. Whether I misread the audience's prior knowledge, seniority, or motivation
3. Whether the ask was unclear, too early, too late, or too large
4. Whether the data or evidence was the wrong type for this audience's decision-making style
5. Whether the delivery context (room, time, format) undermined the content
For each diagnosis, suggest a specific fix I can apply before the next delivery. Prioritise the two or three most likely root causes rather than listing every possibility. ⚠ human-in-the-loop: you are responsible for the results of using this prompt, not us.
