Translate Your Draft's Timeline Into a Continuity Sheet

Somewhere in chapter nine the baby is two years old, and eighteen months later it is Christmas again. This reads the draft and builds a continuity sheet: dates, ages, seasons, days of the week, how long things take. Keep it beside you for the rest of the edit.

Read the draft below and build a continuity sheet from what is actually on the page, not from what the story implies.

Cover: the date or season of every scene, how much time passes between scenes, each named character's age at each point, days of the week where they are stated, how long travel and recovery take, and any object, injury, weather or pregnancy that has to progress.

Then list every contradiction you find, quoting both places, and every point where the draft is silent and you had to leave a gap.

Output a table ordered by story time, then the contradictions as a numbered list, then the gaps. No commentary on the writing itself.
