Generate a Late Payment Chaser That Cites Statutory Interest and Compensation

Invoice sent in March. Two nudges, one apology, still nothing. The fourth polite email will not work either. This writes the letter that names the late payment legislation, the interest now running, the fixed compensation and the date you stop asking nicely.

Act as a credit controller for a small UK supplier. Write a formal chaser to a business customer for an overdue invoice, using the statutory framework for late commercial payment: the right to charge interest above base rate and a fixed sum in compensation per invoice, plus reasonable recovery costs. Explain the mechanism in the letter clearly enough that a non-specialist reader understands what is now running. Give information and set out my position. Do not give legal advice, do not threaten anything I have not said I will do, and note at the end what a solicitor or a debt recovery firm would need if it goes further.

Invoice and history: {INVOICE_DETAILS}

Produce three things. First, the letter itself, under 300 words, formal, calm, no anger and no apology, with the invoice reference, the original due date, the days overdue, the amount outstanding, the interest and compensation position, a payment deadline of [14] days and one named next step if the deadline passes. Second, a two line summary of the amounts to enter on the statement of account. Third, a short covering email of no more than 60 words to send it with.

If the details supplied do not include a due date or agreed payment terms, say which figures cannot be stated and write the letter without inventing them.
