Write a Revealing In-Character Monologue
You need a character to open their mouth and show you who they really are. Describe them, the situation, and the wound they're hiding, and you get a 200 to 300 word monologue that reveals them through what they choose to say, dodge or contradict. Good for writers who want a speech that does double duty: drama on the surface, character underneath.
Write a dramatic monologue of 200 to 300 words for the character described below. The monologue should reveal character through what the speaker chooses to say, how they say it, and, crucially, what they avoid or contradict themselves on.
Character: {CHARACTER_DESCRIPTION}
Situation: {SITUATION} (what has just happened or been asked of this character)
Secret or wound the character is hiding: {HIDDEN_TRUTH}
Audience the character is speaking to: {AUDIENCE}
The monologue must:
- Sound completely in-character (word choice, cadence, logic all belong to this person)
- Never directly state the hidden truth, but allow it to leak through in slips, deflections, or over-explanation
- End on a line that recontextualises what the character said at the start
Do not add any commentary or explanation after the monologue. ⚠ human-in-the-loop: you are responsible for the results of using this prompt, not us.
