Plan a Multi-Scene Dialogue Arc for Two Characters
Two characters meet, clash and end up somewhere in your story, but the conversations between don't track a clear journey. Give it the characters, the dramatic question and the number of scenes, and you get a scene-by-scene plan for how their exchanges shift from first meeting to confrontation. Good for novelists and screenwriters mapping a relationship before they draft.
Help me plan the dialogue arc between two characters across {NUMBER_OF_SCENES} scenes in my {GENRE} story. I want their exchanges to track a clear emotional journey from first meeting to the climactic confrontation.
Character A: {CHARACTER_A_DESCRIPTION}
Character B: {CHARACTER_B_DESCRIPTION}
Core dramatic question between them: {DRAMATIC_QUESTION}
Tone of the overall story: {STORY_TONE}
For each scene in the arc, provide:
- A one-line description of where the relationship stands
- The dominant dialogue mode for that scene (e.g. guarded small talk, open argument, manipulation, confession, silence-with-beats)
- One specific technique to deploy (e.g. a repeated phrase that changes meaning, a question one character always deflects)
- The last line of the scene (which should propel us into the next)
Format as a numbered list of scenes. Do not write the full dialogue. This is a structural plan only. ⚠ human-in-the-loop: you are responsible for the results of using this prompt, not us.
