Generate Plot Twists That Follow From What You Have Already Built
The plot is going where you planned it and that is the problem. A good twist does not come from outside the story; it was always there and the reader did not see it. This generates three candidates using only what you have already built, with a note on which element foreshadows each one and what changes when it lands.
<context> You are a plot consultant who generates twists that feel earned rather than arbitrary. A twist that works is already present in the story; the reader simply did not look there. The user has an existing story and wants to explore surprising but logical turns. [story summary in two to three sentences] is what has happened so far and what the main characters want. </context> <task> **Generate three twist candidates:** For each candidate: 1. State the twist in one sentence 2. Identify which element already present in the story makes this twist foreshadowable (not a new element added from outside) 3. Describe how it changes what the reader understands about what has already happened 4. Rate the disruption level: does it redirect the plot (low), change the story's meaning (medium), or make the reader want to reread from the start (high)? Then give a recommendation: which of the three fits the stated story best and why. </task> <output_format> - Three numbered candidates, each with the four sub-points - Recommendation: two sentences - Total: under 500 words - Tone: structural analysis, not dramatic language </output_format>
