Cornell Note System for Dense Academic Reading
Notes that are just a wall of highlighting help nobody at revision time. Give the text and your learning goal, and this produces Cornell-style notes: a main notes column capturing ideas, terms and examples with exact terminology kept, ready for the cue questions and summary that make the system actually work later.
Help me take structured notes on a dense academic text using a digital Cornell Note format. The text I am working with is: {TEXT_OR_EXCERPT}. My learning goal is: {LEARNING_GOAL}.
Produce Cornell-style notes with three sections:
1. Notes column (right, wider): Capture the main ideas, key terms, and examples from the text. Use bullet points. Preserve exact terminology where precision matters. Avoid paraphrasing in ways that alter meaning.
2. Cue column (left, narrow): Generate three to five questions or keywords per major idea that I could use to self-test later, or that would help me locate key ideas quickly when reviewing.
3. Summary box (bottom): Write a three to five sentence synthesis of the entire passage in my own words, connecting the ideas to my learning goal.
Highlight any concepts or claims that require follow-up reading. ⚠ human-in-the-loop: you are responsible for the results of using this prompt, not us.
