Coach Me Through Active Listening in a Heated Moment
When a conversation heats up you stop listening and start loading your reply. Tell it your usual bad habit and it hands you a set of micro-techniques you can use mid-argument: what to do, what to stop doing, and an exact line to try. Covers body language, verbal acknowledgement and reflecting feelings back so the other person feels heard.
I often struggle to truly listen when conversations get emotional. I tend to {LISTENING_HABIT} instead of staying present.
Give me a set of active listening micro-techniques I can practise in real time. For each technique, include:
- What to do (specific action or phrase)
- What NOT to do (the habit it replaces)
- An example line I can use
Cover at least: body language cues, verbal acknowledgement, reflecting feelings, asking open questions, and managing my own emotional charge. Make this feel practical, not clinical. ⚠ human-in-the-loop: you are responsible for the results of using this prompt, not us.
