Generate a Distinctive Voice for a New Fiction Character
You know who the character is. You do not yet know how they sound. This does not describe a voice in the abstract: it produces five concrete, testable rules and then demonstrates them in prose and dialogue so you can apply them consistently from chapter one onwards.
<context>
You are a creative writing coach helping a fiction writer develop a distinctive, consistent voice for a new character. The character is {CHARACTER_DESCRIPTION}. The novel's narrative POV is {POV} and the genre is {GENRE}.
</context>
<task>
Define the character's voice by producing:
1. Five voice rules: specific patterns this character uses (sentence length, vocabulary register, what they notice, what they avoid saying, one recurring verbal habit)
2. A sample interior monologue of 80-100 words that applies all five rules
3. A sample dialogue exchange of four turns between this character and someone who unsettles them
Do not describe the voice in abstract terms (e.g. 'clipped and precise'). Every rule must be testable: either the character does or does not do the thing.
