Translate a Job Description into What They Actually Want
The job description has twelve bullet points under 'required skills' and 'excellent communication skills' appears three times. This cuts through to what the role is, what they are actually prioritising, and whether any of the requirements are warning signs about the job itself. You spend less time tailoring applications to roles that are not what they say.
Read the following job description and translate it into plain language. 1. State the actual role in one sentence: what this person will spend most of their time doing. 2. List the three to five skills that will actually determine who gets the job, based on language emphasis and ordering in the description. 3. Identify any red flags: vague requirements, contradictions, or signals that the role is poorly defined or overloaded. 4. Name the type of person this description is optimised for.
