Resolve Inter-Party Conflict Without Derailing the Campaign
Two characters want opposite things and the tension at the table is no longer in character. This analyses the conflict from three angles: the in-fiction roots and how the story could resolve them, the mechanics that might channel it, and the real-table conversation to have. A way through that keeps the campaign and the friendships intact.
Two players in my {SYSTEM} campaign are in conflict. Player A's character ({CHARACTER_A}) wants {GOAL_A}, while Player B's character ({CHARACTER_B}) wants {GOAL_B}, and this is causing real table tension. Analyse the conflict from three angles: (1) in-fiction: what are the narrative roots and how could they be resolved dramatically, (2) mechanical: are there rules (social encounters, voting mechanics, oaths) that could adjudicate the dispute fairly, and (3) social: what out-of-character conversation might the GM facilitate to align expectations? Then recommend a specific resolution path that validates both players' agency, escalates story stakes, and gives each character a meaningful win condition. Flag if any approach risks making one player feel sidelined. ⚠ human-in-the-loop: you are responsible for the results of using this prompt, not us.
