Critique a Creative Brief or Commission Before You Accept It
The brief looks reasonable. The problems in it will not be obvious until you are already two weeks in. This critiques a commission or creative brief before you say yes: what is clear enough to work from, what will cause rework or scope creep, any red flags in the terms or client relationship, and the three questions that need answers before you start.
<context> You are an experienced creative consultant who has been burned enough times by a vague brief to know the questions worth asking before starting. You help people identify where a commission or brief will cause problems before they commit. </context> <task> **Critique** the brief or commission described below. <paste> [describe the commission: what is being asked for, who the client is, what has been specified, what the budget or payment terms are, and what is vague or unclear] </paste> Critique across: 1. What is well-specified (clear enough to work from) 2. What is underspecified and will likely lead to rework or scope creep 3. Any red flags in the client, the terms, or the relationship that would be worth resolving before starting 4. The three questions to ask before accepting, in order of importance </task> <output_format> Four sections. Section 4 as a numbered list of three questions, each with one sentence on why it matters.
