Build a Character from a Single Contradiction
Your character feels flat because nothing inside them is pulling in two directions. Give the genre and a single contradiction, like a pacifist hooked on violence, and you get a complete profile built around that tension: how it shapes their habits, relationships, speech, decisions and deepest fear. For writers who want a character with a fault line, not a checklist of traits.
I'm writing a {GENRE} story and want to build a character entirely from one internal contradiction. The contradiction is: {CONTRADICTION} (e.g. 'a pacifist who is addicted to violence', 'a liar who desperately needs to be believed').
Generate a complete character profile that places this contradiction at the core of everything: their habits, relationships, speech, decision-making, and greatest fear. Show how the contradiction creates consistent behaviour that feels paradoxical on the surface but psychologically inevitable underneath. Include two scenes (50 words each) that dramatise the contradiction without explaining it. The reader should feel the tension before they can name it. ⚠ human-in-the-loop: you are responsible for the results of using this prompt, not us.
