What Do You Actually Want in a Partner?
Asked what you want in a partner, most people reel off height and a sense of humour, and none of it predicts whether things last. This goes deeper. Think back to the three relationships that felt most right, how those people made you feel about yourself, what daily life with them was like, then build a list that reflects what actually matters to you.
Most people list surface traits when asked what they want in a partner, {SURFACE_TRAIT_EXAMPLE}, but these rarely predict compatibility or lasting happiness. This prompt helps you go deeper.
Think about the three relationships in your life that felt most right, even if they didn't last. What did those people make you feel about yourself? What did daily life with them feel like, not just the highlights?
Now list five values or emotional qualities, not appearances or status markers, that were present in those relationships. Examples: emotional curiosity, comfort with silence, willingness to repair after conflict, {CUSTOM_VALUE}.
Finally, ask yourself: which of these do you actually embody yourself right now? Where might you need to grow to attract or sustain the partnership you say you want?
