WORK SETTING DAY RATE 123 words
Freelancer Day Rate Pitch Script
A client asks your day rate and your stomach drops, because pitch too high and you lose it, too low and you are stuck under market for the whole job. Give it your specialism and target rate and it writes four scripts: stating the rate without hedging, handling pushback that it is too high, and the other situations where the number gets tested.
I'm a freelancer or contractor working in {SPECIALISM} and a potential client has asked for my day rate. My target rate is {TARGET_DAY_RATE} but I'm worried about pitching too high and losing the work, or too low and being locked in below market.
Generate scripts for four situations:
1. Stating my rate confidently for the first time without hedging or over-explaining
2. Responding if the client says my rate is above their budget
3. Offering a lower rate in exchange for a longer-term contract commitment (volume discount framing)
4. Raising my rate with an existing client at contract renewal
For each script, note the exact words that tend to weaken a contractor's position and what to say instead. ⚠ human-in-the-loop: you are responsible for the results of using this prompt, not us.
