Decide which CC and FYI threads are actually worth your time
Half your inbox is threads where you were CC'd out of habit, and somewhere in there is one that genuinely needs you. This sorts every FYI message into action needed, monitor, or safe to ignore, so you stop reading courtesy copies as if they were tasks and catch the one that was quietly expecting a reply.
Here are all the emails where I was CC'd or added as FYI, not the primary recipient:
{EMAIL_LIST}
My role: {MY_ROLE}
My team or department: {MY_TEAM}
For each thread, decide:
- ACTION NEEDED: I was CC'd but there is a clear expectation I will respond or act. Explain what and by when.
- MONITOR: I should stay aware but do not need to reply.
- SAFE TO IGNORE: I was CC'd out of habit or courtesy. No action, no need to follow the thread.
Also flag any threads where I should proactively remove myself from future replies.
Finish with a count: how many of these emails genuinely required my attention versus how many were noise? ⚠ human-in-the-loop: you are responsible for the results of using this prompt, not us.
