Steel-Man My Rejected Option
You've almost picked one option and quietly written off the other. Before you commit, this builds the strongest, most honest case for the one you're rejecting, no cheap devil's advocacy, a real argument a thoughtful person might make. Then it points at the one or two assumptions propping up your current preference that, if wrong, would flip the whole thing.
I am choosing between {OPTION_A} and {OPTION_B}. I am currently leaning toward {PREFERRED_OPTION}. I want you to steel-man the option I am NOT choosing. Build the strongest possible, most intellectually honest case for {REJECTED_OPTION}. Do not play devil's advocate cheaply: genuinely argue why a thoughtful, well-informed person might prefer it. Then identify the one or two assumptions in my current preference that, if wrong, would flip the decision entirely. I will use this to either update my view or feel more confident in my original choice. ⚠ human-in-the-loop: you are responsible for the results of using this prompt, not us.
