CREATIVE 100 words
Clarity Edit: Sharp Without Killing the Voice
You want clearer writing but every editor seems to sand off what made it yours. This edits for comprehension under a hard constraint: no flattening the voice. It breaks bloated sentences, swaps abstract nouns for concrete ones and cuts weak hedging, while keeping the personality. Good for writers who've been burned by edits that left their work generic.
Edit the following passage for clarity. Your constraint: you must not flatten the voice or make it sound generic. Every change must serve comprehension without sacrificing personality.
Apply these rules in order:
- Break any sentence over 40 words that has more than one main idea
- Replace any abstract noun phrase with a concrete equivalent where possible
- Remove hedging language that weakens the argument without adding nuance
- Flag any sentence where clarity and voice are genuinely in tension; do not edit these; explain the dilemma instead
